Donna Tang is a Dutch actress with Chinese roots, best known for her lead role as Yung Ling in HAPPY PALACE (樂宮). With fluency in Dutch, English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Donna brings multilingual capabilities to both Dutch and international productions. Born and raised in Amsterdam by immigrant parents, she works toward a more inclusive film industry that values diverse perspectives and professional excellence.
Donna is currently working on a new short film, serving as both supporting actress and assistant director. Her involvement extends to casting, translation work and gaining comprehensive insight into the production process from behind the camera.
She is also pursuing training in script continuity to deepen her understanding of the filmmaking craft. While acting remains her primary focus, she is actively broadening her expertise across multiple aspects of film production.
HAPPY PALACE, directed by Nicole van Kilsdonk and written by Yan Ting Yuen and Ilse Ott, represents a milestone in Dutch cinema as the first Asian-Dutch feature film. The production also marks the first Dutch film to feature an all-Chinese-Dutch lead cast and a predominantly Asian crew. The film premiered on national television, served as the opening film for the 20th-anniversary edition of CinemAsia Film Festival and was selected for the Gouden Kalf competition at the 2024 Netherlands Film Festival.
Donna's work in short films includes a lead role as Vivian in STILETTO, which debuted at the 2023 Netherlands Film Festival and a supporting role in THE PERFORMANCE, nominated for Best Short Film at the Gouden Kalf.
In 2022, Donna completed her camera acting training in Amsterdam. During this period, she collaborated with actress and filmmaker Joey Kwan on two short films: MOEDERWOND (2022) and GAYAU 加油(2023). The latter was screened at both ShortCutz Amsterdam and CinemAsia Film Festival.
